Product Care & Safety Guidelines

Essential care rituals and structural mounting instructions for SHIVORA DESIGN mirrors.

1. Mirror Surface Cleaning Ritual

  • Spray Cloth, Never Mirror Directly: Always spray glass cleaner or diluted vinegar onto a clean microfiber cloth first. Spraying directly onto the mirror causes liquid to run down into the bottom frame seam, potentially causing silvering oxidation ("black edge").
  • Ammonia-Free Cleaners: Avoid harsh chemical solvents or acidic ammoniated solutions that degrade the protective copper-free backing.
  • Gentle Circular Motion: Wipe in soft, overlapping circular motions to remove finger smudges and airborne dust without scratching the 5mm float glass.

2. Frame Material Preservation

Champagne Brass & Gold Foil

Dust metal leaves and brass moldings regularly with a soft goat-hair brush or dry cotton duster. Never use abrasive metal polishes, scouring pads, or solvent waxes that can strip the protective lacquer coat.

Velvet Upholstered Frames

Gently vacuum velvet rims with a brush upholstery attachment. In the event of an accidental liquid spill, immediately blot with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Do not rub vigorously.

Violet Cast Glass & Acrylics

Clean sculptural violet glass elements with lukewarm water and a drop of neutral dish soap on a damp cloth. Dry immediately with a lint-free towel to maintain crystal refraction.

LED & Smart Mirrors

Always power off the touch sensor or wall switch prior to cleaning. Ensure the rear electrical power housing and transformer remain completely dry.

3. Wall Mounting & Household Safety Guidelines

Designer mirrors range from 9 kg to over 20 kg. Adhere strictly to these safety standards:

  • Two-Person Installation: Never attempt to lift, balance, and align architectural mirrors alone. A minimum of two adults is mandatory.
  • French Cleat Alignment: Ensure the wall bracket is verified with a bubble level before drilling. Both ends must be anchored into solid masonry or vertical wall studs.
  • Drywall Anchors: Do not rely on standard plastic plugs for heavy mirrors on partition drywall. Always utilize heavy-duty metal toggle bolts or butterfly anchors rated for at least double the mirror weight.
  • Floor-Leaning Safety: For leaning full-length mirrors, always fasten the included anti-tip steel cable to the wall behind the mirror to prevent accidental tip-over around children or pets.
